We should never lose sight of the fact that God corrects and instructs us for our good. Understanding that helps us to stay pliable in the hands of the Potter/ in the Master’s hands and he molds us into the image of Jesus. Look at
what Jesus says in Jeremiah 18:6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
“Can I not do to you as the potter does with the clay?” You see, all God wants is to be free to work in our lives. He isn’t trying to take something away from us. He is trying to give something wonderful to everyone of us, “Hear Me. Do what I say. Follow my plan. Get in My Word. Listen to Me in your spirit. Let Me make you a vessel of honor.”
Think back to the way you were when you were first born again, before the Word was ever planted in your heart. You were a sad story before the Potter began to mold and shape you, weren’t you? God has certainly done a wonderful work on my vessel of clay through the years, I mean; I was clueless and so naive and timid when I was a new Christian that I didn’t dare to talk to anybody. I didn’t have much to say either. Those days are gone forever.
God develops authority and power in you as you walk in His Word. An inner confidence rises up because you know Who is inside you and Who you are following. You get the revelation in 1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Self-confidence can never compare that the Word of God builds in your heart – an inner insurance so that you can face anything that comes your way because the Greater One live in you. It’s no longer self-confidence but God confidence.
As you honor God’s Word, He will do more in your life than you could ever imagine. He will make you a vessel of honor, prepared unto every good work, fir for the Master’s use 2Tim.2:19-21
God will shape you into a vessel of love to help and encourage others. He will fashion you into a vessel of His power and of His Word so that the Word can come out of your mouth and set people free.
It doesn’t even matter if your vessel has been damaged in some way in the past. Jer. 18:4 tells us how the Potter looks at a vessel that is marred: “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it”.
He can make you into another vessel. It doesn’t matter what your situation is today or where you’ve come from. You may have been a prostitute or a thief or a murderer. God can make you a new vessel.
I know of murderers on death row whom God has made into other vessels; beautiful, wonderful vessels. Vessels of love. Vessels of honor.
Now, I know people on death row are extreme cases. But I know people from every walk of life who have been transformed by the power of God. Some came out of terrible lifestyles in which they absolutely lived like dogs, but God made them into beautiful vessels. Today they are such tenderhearted people. They radiate the love of God.
God wants to work on your vessel, too. But it’s up to you to choose to let Him. Make the choice and the decision to place yourself completely in the hands of the Potter. Let Him make you into a vessel of honor He desires you to be.
