Mary, did you know?

Have you ever thought what you would ask Mary if  you could have a conversation with her?

Wow Mary, what if you had known all this? How did you handle the news of your pregnancy? The angel that came was magnificent. And when he said, “The Most High will overshadow you! You’re going to have His Son!”… what could she say or do?

She probably had so many thoughts racing through her mind when Gabriel appeared. How do you even begin to understand that God has chosen you to be the mother of the “Son of the Most High”? Now, Mary had to make a choice. A choice of “not to fear”, a choice to trust God and not listen to what people were going to say. It probably made no sense to her at all.

Mary reacted in the only way she knew how and that was to make a choice to accept what God had planned for her. She had grown up knowing the power of God they worshiped. She knew of His love and His provision. And if that was what God wanted for her, then how could she do anything but accept His plan?

It wouldn’t have been easy Many women who had sex outside of marriage were stoned. Joseph choose to stay on her side marry her. But the fact remained: she was the town scandal. Her pregnancy was the subject of gossip everywhere. It didn’t matter what she said, people were going to think what they wanted.

Joseph and Mary knew that they hadn’t done anything wrong, but who believes two young people who were already engaged? There must have been times that she felt very isolated. Elisabeth, her cousin understood and spent quite a bit of time with her. But outside of Elizabeth and Joseph, there was no one who really understood.

She had to trust the Lord completely. Daily, hour by hour, minute by minute, she had to remind herself that God was in complete control and that He knew what He was doing.

How can you benefit from this story? everybody’s situation is unique. There are times for everybody that we have to face unexpected events or shocking news. For some that mean a pregnancy outside of marriage. Or maybe it is an illness or a job loss. It is tempting to let those situations overwhelm us, isolate us and make us doubt God.

It’s a time to choose life and not death, that’s for sure. A time to look to God as our only source and trust Him completely. When you make a righteous choice from a heart that is filled with love towards God; God will come through for you. He is always the same, no matter what happens to you; He is right there to be there for you.

Your life may not turn out how you expected, but it will turn out better than it ever could apart from God.

Made in the Likeness of Men

Written by Rick Renner from The Sparkling Gems. This book is one of my very favorites; so, today I choose one of Rick Renner’s devotional. I am sure you will like it!!

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.- Philippians 2:6,7

At this time of the year, believers all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. His birth is one of the greatest miracles that has ever occurred, for it was a moment when God Almighty laid aside His glory and appeared on earth as a man. How wonderful, how marvelous to think that God would temporarily shed His divine appearance and actually take on the flesh of man! Yet this is precisely what happened the day Jesus was born in Bethlehem. [Read more…]

Jesus, The Soon Coming King

This morning as I was reading my Bible; I was reading my yearly reading plan and it came to me that without realizing that when we have a reading plan we end up to read the book of revelation in the month of December. You gotta know that Revelation is the book that reveals who Jesus really is. It just came to me how significant that is, to spend the month of December reading about Jesus, our Lord and Savior and who Jesus really is.

You see, our society has made something so fantastic and incredible about the coming of the Lord, that our minds have lost much of it impact and reality. Even as Christians we do believe in the coming of the Lord and we do believe in His virgin birth. If we do not, we cannot claim the new birth in our own life. [Read more…]

Tongues: Beyond The Upper Room

The following excerpt is from the book Tongues: Beyond The Upper Room by Kenneth E. Hagin:

You can readily see how the Church as a whole has fallen so far short and so far behind in prayer. Many Christians have tried to get by on just mental praying, so it is no wonder they haven’t gotten any further in their spiritual progress. They’re trying to get by on one kind of praying when God has given His children the ability to pray with the spirit and pray with the understanding!

Praying only one way is like trying to ride a two-wheeled bicycle with just one wheel. If you do that, I guarantee you’re going to have a problem going very far! [Read more…]

7 Aspects of The Gift Jesus Gave Us

We could call this the “Ultimate Gift”.

How can you choose the Ultimate Gift for somebody who is special to you? Each one of us has gone through this situation, not knowing what to choose for that one favorite person for that special occasion.

What do you do and where do you go? Thinking about that person makes you want to buy everything, but that doesn’t make any sense. No, you want to buy that one special item and see her/his eyes lighten up and tell you that, that is the best gift ever. You can’t wait for the question that will be asked: “How come you think of buying that”? It’s the best thing ever; the ultimate gift that you choose. [Read more…]

Peace On Earth Is Possible!

We are really living in a time where peace is hard to find. Times are different isn’t it? We keep looking back and romanticize all the Christmas’ times from the good old days. But, we are living in these times and we are called for such a time as this. So, we need to make valuable choices and that is certainly to enjoy this season.

But for many people, it’s a difficult time. Every day our eyes, ears, and hearts are being bombarded by the media with glaring headlines of doom and visions of turmoil…anything but peace.

People everywhere are experiencing all kinds of pressure and stress. And people everywhere have a choice to make—difficult choices between receiving turmoil into their hearts, or choose to resist fear and refuse to allow it to chip away at their peace. [Read more…]

Simeon and Anna’s Moment

Simeon and Anna’s Moment

by Olga Hermans

We have a beautiful painting in our living room from Ron DiCianni. It’s called “Simeon’s Moment”. It is one of my favorite paintings. It must have been such an awesome experience for Simeon to hold the Son of God in his arms! For Simeon it was indeed the moment of a lifetime as it showed the fulfillment of God’s promise to him and to the world.

Simeon’s Moment speaks to the joy and elation that Simeon must have felt at seeing that prophecy fulfilled. This is the moment that Simeon had chosen to live his life for God. Luke 2:21-35

The people of Israel had eagerly waited for centuries for the Messiah to arrive, but it wasn’t until the perfect moment in history, during the census of the entire Roma world, when the baby was born. Jesus was born right on time and in the right place, fulfilling many Old testament prophesies.

Jesus is consistently, perfectly, always on time. You may be waiting for God to fulfill a promise to you. Don’t lose your hope; he’s on time and always keeps his promises.

And than there is Anna; what did it mean to her to see the Messiah? Can we even imagine what was like for her? As a prophet. She had spent years waiting for the Messiah. She knew the promises that God had given to his people throughout the centuries and she had spent her life praying and fasting, longing for the Messiah to appear.

Anna exemplified qualities of anointing and steadfastness. After being married only seven years, her husband died and this widow chose a life of fasting and prayer in the temple. She did not depart from the temple, but made the choice to serve God. Luke 2:36-37, clearly chose to walk in moral purity and dedicated service. The name “Anna” means “Favor” or “Grace”. She did find favor in God’s eyes for He revealed the Messiah, the Hope of Israel to her.

So, when she overheard Simeon giving thanks to God because he had seen the Lord’s Messiah, she knew she had to see the child. In that tiny body was the hope for Jerusalem, the redemption of the people.

There is worth and value in whatever passage of life you may find yourself. Many people might consider elderly people worthless or those lonely years of widowhood unbearable. But our God can make any time in our lives worthwhile and useful. You may be washing floors and wiping up after young children right now. Or maybe you are in between jobs and uncertain about what step to take next. Maybe you’re waiting for a husband or for financial security. Choose to believe that promise that you have; God will come through for you!

Many who prayed and waited for the Messiah never saw Him. But one day the Lord allowed these two elderly people to see the Christ child and joyously praise God for that long-awaited answer to prayer!

Wherever you are in life, look for ways to serve God in and through your life situation. And I know this; If you choose to be faithful, God will honor you.

…WHO JESUS REALLY IS

This morning I received this e-mail from one of my teachers in VBI in Tulsa. This is a great bibleschool; if you ever desire to attend a bibleschool, then you should certainly prayerfully consider this one. Any way Eddie Hyattt was one of my favorite teachers; he writes books on revival and is very knowledgeable on the moves of God. I so enjoyed this article that I want to share it with you. Here it is:

OLD TESTAMENT NAMES OF THE MESSIAH REVEAL WHO JESUS REALLY IS

It is Christmas again and the world is again being confronted with Jesus. Yes, I understand that the real Jesus is too often obscured by all the tinsel and commercialism of the season, and I am aware of the overt attempts to completely remove Him from Christmas. Nonetheless, instead of cursing the darkness let’s light a candle and ask God for creative ways to make known to this generation who Jesus really is. [Read more…]

5 Qualities Of A Doer

5 Qualities Of A Doer

by Olga Hermans

Have you been watching The Apprentice with Donald Trump? I have, as I mentioned that last week. It was a race to win and everybody wanted to finish strong, but only one could be The Apprentice of  Donald Trump. It was Brandy Kuentzel and not Clint Robertson. Of course Ivanka  and Don Jr.  had their sayings in this finale.

In this race life, it may take you double the effort to reach your destiny, but you will get there if you one thing; get back up and keep running! A stumble is not a loss. It’s just another opportunity to get back up and succeed.

You will have many opportunities to trust God and many opportunities to doubt. If you stumble in your faith, don’t let it stop you from running your race. Clint Robertson is getting back; we all know that! Most people who have seen great success with God have not been perfect, but they’ve been faithful.

I believe that God wants the body of Christ to overflow with goodness; with love, with joy, with peace, with prosperity, with health and with good relationships. Is it a sacrifice to get back? Yes, it takes effort and a will to get back up after you have struggled or even fallen. Is it worth it? Of course it is.

God loves you. There is no doubt about it. Throughout His Word, He gives you verse after verse about is unconditional love toward you. This world will cut you down. The devil and even your own thoughts will try and tell you that you’re nothing, that you aren’t valuable and aren’t worth the effort. Those thoughts are lies from the pit! God loves you no matter what you look like, what you say or even what you do. His love never fails.

You see, you’ve got to get it in your mind that God wants to see you succeed. He is not against you; He is for you. He is not looking to take from you; He is looking to give to you. The Word says it gives God great pleasure to see you prosper. Psalm 35:27

It brings God pleasure when we enjoy the fruit of our labor. It magnifies Him. He wants to see us shout for joy and be glad. He wants us to do the right thing in life.

Look around you at the successful people that you know or admire. Did they achieve their success easily? Probably not. Real success requires that you sacrifice something of yourself. Something must be sown for something to be reaped. A doer is someone who moves beyond his/her own thoughts and ideas and into action.

Here Are 5 Qualities Of A Doer:

  1. They are not lazy.
  2. They are willing to work in whatever circumstances are necessary.
  3. They are willing to change and exchange old methods for new methods.
  4. they are proud of what they have done, but they aren’t satisfied with stopping.
  5. They do!! That’s what they do; they do!!

Doers make the world go around. We write about them. We talk about them. we are amazed by their focus, their tenacity and their accomplishments. What do they have that non-doers don’t have? Determination.

Use your will to determine the integrity of the soul; your soul loves to achieve things in life. Go for it!

“Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice: It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” William Jennings Bryan
