You Have a Special Place in the Heart of the Father

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16 (NASB)

It’s important to know the place that you hold in the heart of the Father. If you are hungry for God, it is easier to approach Him when you are convinced that He loves for you to enter His presence. Being persuaded of the Father’s desire to commune with us eliminates feelings of unworthiness and condemnation, and anything else that would keep us from approaching Him.

Some people are afraid of God and afraid to come into His presence. I am not talking about reverential fear. We absolutely should honour and respect the Father and be conscious of His glory. No, I am talking about people who do not feel they can approach God – come boldly to the throne. They don’t understand that they can come near to God with confidence; that they have a special place in the heart of the Father.

As parents, we want our children to bring us their happiness and hurts. Our children have a unique place in our hearts. I am mother to two children and I want them to fellowship with me and share their lives. If this holds true in the natural realm, how much more so must it be true in the spiritual realm?

We need to have an understanding and a revelation of our place in the heart of the Father. Genesis 3:7-9 tells us how it was in the beginning, when God created man for the pleasure of fellowshipping with him: And the eyes of them both [Adam and Eve] were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, “Where are you?”

God was not angry when He came seeking Adam and Eve. No; He was looking for His friends. He was seeking out the ones with whom He was communing and having times of fellowship. He was looking for them and said: “Where are you?” He was longing to share their company. Do you know that the Lord longs to have fellowship with you? He is longing for your companionship.

Read the following scripture aloud and allow its meaning to soak into your heart!

And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favour, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!
Isaiah 30:18 (AMP)

The Lord longs for us and by responding with longing for Him, we can experience His matchless, unbroken companionship.

Will you choose to approach the throne of grace knowing that God wants to fellowship with you? Now that’s the choice driven life!
